Scrappy Pillow Complete

I finished my scrappy pillow I previously posted about here!

It's so bright and fun. It turned out kind of small, but that's ok. I like having a variation of sizes on our couch. There's such satisfaction in completing a project made out of scraps! :)

Wonky Star Baby Quilt Top

I finished piecing together this wonky star quilt top. I love the way it turned out. It was so fun to put together since there wasn't an exact pattern to follow.

I started piecing this after I saw Jolene's post on her blog Blue Elephant Stitches. She linked to the Wonky Star Tutorial found here.

I used scraps I had on hand. A few Kona Solids, a Kaffe Fassett print, some quilters linen, and a few other prints. I need to get more of the Dottie Cream Shroom print. I've found it's interesting yet subtle and goes with most everything I piece together.

This will be another baby quilt. Not sure who it will end up with yet!

Now to figure out what to use for the backing and binding...

Chevron and On Baby Quilt Pieced

I finished piecing together my Chevron and On quilt top!

It ended up being a little bigger than most of the baby quilts I've made. I like the size of it. It will be plenty big to bundle up the sweet baby boy it's going to be given to.

Again, I love the fact that I was able to use my scraps for this one. I'm trying really hard to not have a ton of fabric bins everywhere so these kind of projects help!

I think for the backing I want to do some sort of gray pattern. Not for sure yet.

I'm hoping to quilt this one this Saturday because I have a new baby quilt to start for a friend that wants to gift it at a baby shower on the 22nd of this month. Just waited for the fabric to come in. So excited to get started.

I'm thinking a bright color for the binding on this one. Maybe orange? Something fun at least. I will probably quilt it in a meandering free-motion design. It's just so fast, easy, and cute. Hard to beat it.

Neighborhood Mini Quilt

Here is another mini quilt I made for our Modern Patchwork Mini Quilt Club that I am a part of at City Craft. This one is called the Neighborhood Mini Quilt.

Each month we create a mini quilt from Elizabeth Hartman's newest book "Modern Patchwork." Elizabeth provides instructions to make mini versions of each of the quilts in her book. You can find them here.

Again, you can see that my tension wasn't great, but I've learned since then!

This was also my first time to try the free motion Orange Peel quilting pattern. I think it's so cute! You can find Elizabeth Hartman's tutorial on this pattern here.

Felt Cookies

Some friends of our are having a birthday party for their two year old twins this weekend! We are so excited. I wanted to make something simple and fun for them that they would be able to share. I saw this super cute post a few days ago on Ikat Bag. LiEr shows how to make these adorable felt cookies and icing that can be mixed and matched. I just followed along her simple tutorial and ended up with 12 adorable play cookies.

I cut out the cookies. Mine were about 4 inches in diameter.

I then cut out batting the same size for each cookie.

Make sure you have your cookies stacked like this before you start sewing. I wasn't thinking and had the batting sandwiched between the two pieces of felt on my first cookie.

Then I sewed around the circle and left a small opening to turn the cookie inside out.

Here are all the cookies turned inside out, ready to be hand stitched.

After the cookies were done, I cut out frosting from various colors of felt and gathered material to sew sprinkles on. I like how LiEr used long skinny ones to look like sprinkles, but these were the only beads I had around.  I also noticed after I finished that she had the beads more dense in the center of the icing. I may go back and add more.

Here they are all together! I hope they have a fun time playing with them. Now I just need to make the fake frosting bag before the party this weekend!
